The Bali Arts Festival is inarguably one of the most famous festivals in Bali, Indonesia. It is a cultural treat for the lucky guests who are visiting Bali from mid-June until mid-July. The annual celebration showcases many different artworks and cultural attainments, and it is the perfect moment to experience Bali’s wealth of performing arts. In addition to Balinese culture and art, visitors will also catch a glimpse of cultural highlights from other islands in Indonesia.

Most of the daily exhibitions and art performances during the Bali Arts Festival are held at the Taman Werdhi Budaya Arts Centre in Denpasar. The Denpasar Art Centre, which normally only permits small groups to visit, is known for its splendid sculptures and is the venue of choice for photo shoots with exotic backgrounds due to its backdrop of Balinese architectural landscapes.

Throughout the Bali Arts Festival the Centre comes alive with colourful traditional bamboo and coconut leaf decorations and banners. Crowds gather in front of its open stages, auditoriums, and outdoor pavilions. Visitors witness a variation of traditional and contemporary dances, shadow puppetry, music arrangements as well as youth competitions that fill the festival’s programme. Hundreds of artists make their way to the Bali Arts Festival to showcase their talents, from Denpasar and other Balinese cities, as well as from neighboring islands and further abroad!
